I'm slowly learning and getting to grips with shooting and editing video when I'm out taking photographs locally or travelling. With the video quality in mirrorless cameras like the Fujifilm X-T2 and the portability of previously specialised tools like drones and gimbals, it's pretty easy to carry a small kit for shooting film alongside my photography kit. Over the coming year I hope to use these things to shoot a range of stuff from travel montages to tutorials which will all go onto my Youtube channel and blog, and that this particular page can evolve to be a gallery of my favourite films as I shoot more and more.
LEARNING TO FLY A DRONE PART 2: STILL IMAGE QUALITY ON THE DJI MAVIC PRO
Since I got hold of the DJI Mavic Pro last month I've been slowly trying to get to grips with flying and filming with drones, as well as filming and editing in general. While I principally bought the drone for shooting video I am also interesting in it's capabilities for still photography so I decided to experiment with the RAW images on the Mavic and create a video review while I was doing it.
LEARNING TO FLY A DRONE WITH THE DJI MAVIC PRO
I recently bought a DJI Mavic drone. I’ve never used a drone before but was interested to learn and see how easy it was, as well as seeing what kind of footage I’d be able to get with such a small portable drone.
This isn’t a review or a comparison, just a look at how easily I found it to get up and flying, and what I feel about the video quality.
SHOOTING STAR IMAGES WITH THE FUJI X-T2
Here’s my second attempt at cutting together a video. This is a quick film I made when I went to the west coast of Portugal and attempted to shoot the Milky Way with the new Fuji X-T2.
Apologies for the truly awful sound on location, I’ve since bought a Røde microphone so the next video will be better.
AT THE EDGE OF THE SEA - TRAILER
This is a trailer for an hour long film I made with Photography Passion about shooting waterscapes on the Portuguese coast. We spent a couple of days shooting on the wild coast of Cabo da Roca, as well as the more gentle Vasco da Gama bridge in Lisbon looking at my field techniques and post processing for everything concerning shooting waterscapes.
