I’m launching my first book through Kickstarter, and with you support, “Light and Shadow” will be collection, limited to just 500 copies, of my best landscape images drawn from over twenty years of photographing some of the planets most beautiful wild places, gathered together for the first time in a stunning coffee table book. So if you’ve enjoyed my photography then I really hope you’ll help me in supporting this book by pledging to buy one on the Kickstarter Campaign.
The Story
It’s taken me around twenty years to do it, but after two decades of travelling the world searching for dynamic light on some of the planet’s most beautiful landscapes, I’m collecting my favourite images together in a book for the first time.
Creating this book has been a labor of love, something I’ve wanted to do for many years but as life and photography work kept me busy, I was never able to find the time I wanted to dedicate to putting a book together. However, earlier this year I finally set aside a few months to curate my best images into a collection that flows naturally from dynamic light sweeping across mountains and deserts to soft mist flowing through valleys in the early morning, grand vistas to more intimate and minimal scenes, the baking hot sun of Namibian deserts to the freezing snow of Hokkaido in winter.
The book is arranged into five sections, each one highlighting a different aspect of the natural world: Mountains, Deserts, Water, Trees and the Human Landscape, which features landscapes where mankind’s touch in the shape of cabins or temples has shaped the scene. The ninety nine images are collected from my visits to some of the most breathtaking corners of the planet. The mountains of the Italian Dolomites and Patagonia, the contrasting deserts of Iceland’s Highlands, Namibia and the US Southwest, the snowy extremes of Norway’s Lofoten Islands and Hokkaido in Japan, the misty plains of Indonesia and Myanmar, the rolling hills of Tuscany and the misty trees of the Pacific North West are all featured here as well as many more, all carefully selected to showcase the different elements of the landscape and also arranged to ensure that the book flows across its pages.
The result is a book I’m truly proud of and one I hope you’ll also greatly enjoy spending time within pages that highlight the incredible natural beauty of this planet alongside years of refining my creative eye, photography craft and love of the wild landscape into a collection of images that represents both a retrospective of my work and a love letter to the natural beauty of the planet we live on.
