WHAT'S IN MY BAGS FOR A LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY TRIP - 2020 EDITION

With the lockdown keeping me at home I thought I’d do this year’s video going over what I take with me on a photography trip…not just in my camera bag, but my luggage too. My philosophy is to travel light and try to refine my kit down to just taking what I’m going to need and use, and it’s constantly evolving around film making needs and finding new ways to take less stuff.

WINTER PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE DOLOMITES: PART 2

This is the second video from my recent Dolomites in Winter workshop. I thought it would be interesting to shoot some video during the workshops and then to analyse some of the images that I shot while in the field, and as I wanted to shoot as spontaneously and discretely as possible most of the footage was shot with an iPhone 11 and a DJI Osmo Mobile 3.

The very first lens I bought when I switched to the Fuji system 4 years ago was the XF10-24mm f4 wide angle zoom.  After taking it with me on more than 20 trips around the world it's still the lens that I recommend most often to people who ask me which lens they should get for landscapes.

AN INTRODUCTION TO CAPTURE ONE PRO FOR LIGHTROOM USERS

I started using Capture One about 9 months ago and in that time it's slowly replaced Lightroom as my main image editor. Since I’ve used it in some of my workflow videos it’s something that I’ve received a lot go questions about so I’ve decide to put together this overview of Capture One looking at my own experience as a landscape photography and explaining a few tips that I’ve found made the learning curve a little easier, as well as a few tips that I use for post processing my images.

This is a short video going over what I carry in my camera bag on a typical photography trip. THE FAROE ISLANDS IN APRIL

Back in April I spent ten days in the Faroe Islands with my good friend and workshop co-leader Andrea Livieri as we scouted out some locations for our workshop there next year. The Faroes are an incredible place situated in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean midway between the Shetland Isles and Iceland, they have a little of both culturally, but the landscape is completely unique.

MAKING THE MOST OF OVERCAST WEATHER - CAPTURE TO PROCESSING

I love colourful sunrises and sunsets with beautiful warm golden light illuminating the landscape, but when you’ve dragged yourself out of bed in the dark and up a mountain and the weather doesn’t give you what you want, there’s still the possibility to capture stark moody landscapes.

I got the chance to spend two weeks in shooting in the Dolomites with the Fujifilm GFX 50R earlier this month, and here's a video review I put together. FUJIFILM XF 8-16MM F2.8 - A PRACTICAL REVIEW

If like me, you love shooting wide angle landscapes then the Fuji XF8-16 f2.8 lens with weather sealing has probably been on your radar since it first appeared on the Fuji roadmap last year.  I’ve been happily using the 10-24mm since I switched to Fuji about three and a half years ago, it’s my most used lens by a long way, so I’ve been wanting to have a look at this lens for while now and see if it can replace the 10-24mm as my go-to wide angle zoom.
